What we collect
If you submit a tool or buy a listing — the email address you provide, the tool name and URL, and the details you enter in the form. We need this to publish the listing, contact you about it, and run the badge check.
If you leave a rating or review — your rating, your comment, and a hashed fingerprint derived from your IP address and browser user-agent. We store the hash, not the IP address itself. It exists only to stop the same person voting repeatedly on the same tool, and it cannot be reversed back into an IP address.
If you just read the site — nothing that identifies you. See “Analytics” below.
If you pay — we never see or store your card details. Payment is handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. We receive only the transaction reference, the amount, and the email address associated with the order.
Analytics: no cookies, no cross-site tracking
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics. We measure page views, referrers and countries in aggregate. We do not set advertising cookies, do not build user profiles, and do not track you across other websites.
This is why you will not see a cookie banner on Toolvern. We do not use the kind of cookies that require one.
Our badge and embed widgets record a click count per widget. That count is aggregate — it tells the tool’s owner how many visits their widget produced, and nothing about who those visitors were.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.
Regarding the last row: content generation runs on public information about tools — homepages, pricing pages, public launch posts. Personal data of site visitors is never sent to a model.
Outreach email
We email the owners of tools listed in our directory about their listing and about the badge program. If you do not want these emails, reply “unsubscribe” or write to support@toolvern.com and we will stop and record the preference.
How long we keep things
- Listing and tool data: as long as the listing is published, plus 12 months.
- Order records: as long as required for accounting and tax purposes.
- Rating fingerprints: 24 months.
- Server logs: as retained by Cloudflare under their standard retention.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Write to support@toolvern.com. We respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
Toolvern is a business tool directory and is not directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
We update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes are noted on /changelog/.
